Pinehurst, NC's Tim Bailey is a Classic Gearjammers regular with his single 4-barrel, 383 SBC-equipped "Old No. 7" '55 BelAir that he built six years ago from a rusted hull. The car is all steel except for its hood and trunk lid and weighs in at 3,015 pounds with Bailey behind the wheel.

A pair of true 1964-built cars met in the Nostalgic Gassers final at Greer Dragway, with Ron Bloomquist, father of dirt late-model star Scott Bloomquist, catching a couple of red-light breaks by his opponents along the way in his '51 Henry J "Phantom" (near lane) that was built by Sam Woodard in Oklahoma City. The Mooresburg, TN, racer's luck ran out against top qualifier Chris Sims in Mac Presley's "Hartsoe Bros." '48 Anglia, however, with Sims taking the event win home to Monroe, NC.

Though not officially part of the Nostalgic Gassers event, Mike Williamson (near lane) and Robert McAlister of Easley, SC, made several exhibition passes at Greer Dragway. Though built as a race car in the '80s, Williamson's wild 383-equipped '67 Chevelle is now licensed and insured to legally ply the highways and byways of Anderson, SC, while McAlister's four-door "Dirty Deuce" Chevy II has seen only racetrack use since the mid-'70s.
