UEM Pro Stock Bike

Whilst the fuel bikes were considerably off the pace, Fredrik Fredlund produced a very impressive performance in Pro Stock Bike, qualifying low with a 7.269 that was two tenths quicker than championship leader Ulf Ögge in second spot. We’re not too sure how a ten bike entry became a sixteen bike ladder (indeed this caught out at least a couple of the riders early on Sunday morning), but Fredlund used three 7.3s to dispatch the Veidec duo of Elvira Karlsson and Kalle Lyrén to earn a spot in the final against Gert Jan Laseur (who had managed to progress down the trickier left hand lane, thanks to outrunning Martin Newbury, holeshooting Ögge and gaining a bye at the semifinal stage). Laseur’s 7.474 would be the quickest in class from the left hand lane, but no match for Fredlund’s 7.184/188 for low ET and TS class marks. The win tightens things up at the top of the points with a couple of rounds between Ögge, Fredlund and Lyrén with two events remaining.

UEM Super Street Bike Cup

The Nitrolympx marked the second round of the Super Street Bike Cup, and track conditions contributed significantly to an odd look to the final qualifying order with Sotiris Tsakiris carding his first low qualifying effort with an 8.386. Tsakiris managed to pick up the scalps of a couple of major hitters in the SSB field in the form of Wayne Saunders and Brad O’Connor, before defeating Erich Gruber at the semi-final stage to face up to Richard Stubbins who carded a class low of 8.068 to defeat Main Event winner Graham Balchin in the final four. Stubbins was able to add to his Nitrolympx victory back in 2009 (the last event to run to completion) with an 8.125 to Tsakiris’s 8.752.
