Big Dog Shootout at Piedmont Dragway

Several new up and coming drivers were on hand for the September edition of the Big Dog Shootout and did not disappoint the fans with 12 cars taking a time and even a few newcomers, such as Jeff Blasi, Keith Floyd, and Kenny Rucker, with only Blasi making the show. The top four qualifiers were in the 3’s with Ed Hoover gaining points in the CV Qualifying Challenge with a 3.896 to take the #1 spot. Danny Perry was second with Todd Howard third and Chris Rini fourth. The next four had Andy Beal #5, Jeff Blasi #6, Tommy Mauney at #7 and Travis Harvey #8.

Danny Perry was runner up at the September Big Dog after winning the August event.

Hoover fouled away a 3.91 to get eventual winner Travis Harvey to the second round where he ran a best of 4.13 with a .006 light to defeat Chris Rini. Danny Perry was busy facing Tommy Mauney in round one where he ran a 3.93 over a tire shaking 6.16 for Mauney. Jeff Blasi slowed to a 5.99 giving Perry a trip to the final to meet “The Carolina Kid”.

Travis Harvey

The final saw Travis run a 4.047 but he did not need it as Danny slowed to a 9.75 giving Harvey his first win of the season.
