A couple of notables

Quick mention should be made of another four car Nitro Funny Car eliminator that John Spuffard emerged from victorious. Once again there was mention of a Euro series for the floppers, although this appeared to have a bit more substance than previously, so fingers crossed for more Funny Car action in 2013.

Among the supporting acts, Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator was one of the best with seven of the top qualifiers in the seven second bracket, although the quickest and fastest, Richard Billings at 7.595 and 208mph, failed the all important street cruise on Friday evening so wasn’t eligible to enter eliminations. The similarly turboed Mustang of Brian Payne (also a mid seven second runner) took the event win, and now has a good chance of retaining his points championship with one event remaining.

The D-Y-O and Index classes also provided a considerable amount of entertainment, with Super Pro requiring an astonishing 0.048s or better over the dial-in to be part of the 32 car raceday field. When the dust settled it was teenager Jayne Kay who bested the field in her ex-Frank Manzo and Dan Larsen Funny Car with victory over Nick Good.
