The new NHRA Harley Davidson Drag Racing Series kicked off March 1-3 running at Houston’s Royal Purple Raceway in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. It was the first of ten Harley events in the 2013 season. Although some of the classes were short on entries, the competition was fierce.

Doug Horne (shown above) used a string of 6.3-second runs to capture the Top Fuel title. Horne knocked out Alvin Kobernausz and Jay Turner, and then went unopposed in the final when Brook McCabe broke on his semifinal run and was unable to repair the damage for the final.

Joining Horne for wins at the inaugural Harley Davidson Drag Racing Series were Dale Niles in Pro Dragster, Clint Rabb in Pro Gas, Neil Sonder in Street Pro and Michael Majeska in Hot Street.
