Strange Engineering Coyote Stock presented by 5.0 Mustang Magazine had a six-car field with two of those entries being newcomers to the class. Leading the pack of Coyotes was Shane Stymiest, who wheeled his 1990 Mustang to an astounding 10.577 at almost 124 miles per hour, which gave him a tenth and a half on the number two qualifier, Joe Charles. Stymiest worked his way through the field to meet Joe Marini in the final round. Even with the starting line advantage, Stymiest couldn’t hold off Marini’s hard final-round charge, carding a 10.66 to Marini’s winning 10.63.

In Nitto Tire Factory Stock, class veteran Louis Sylvester, Jr. took the top qualifier honors with a record-eclipsing 10.726 at over 124 miles per hour, which is unofficially the quickest pass ever in the class. That put him almost a tenth ahead of the field going into eliminations. Sylvester made it to the final where he met Matt Amrine. Sylvester got the slight starting line advantage, but Amrine was able to power around him and take the stripe, 10.87 to 10.95.
