Roger Garten and his crew tow the “War Horse” back to the pits.

First round Sunday all the higher qualified cars won, with the exception of Roger Garten as he fell to LaCharite. Crew chief Cory Lee had a plan in place for running at Boise.

“I tried to run compression up here (4500 feet corrected altitude) and on a small cubic inch engine like ours if I pull on this engine too much it wants to shake the tires,” Lee explained, “so I have to take the compression out and rely on the clutch and on the nitro percentage for power. That’s what I am doing right now.”

Horan had to use his driving abilities to avoid what could have been a major disaster as Mark Sanders’ “Mr. Explosive” Mustang made a very violent move to the left and nearly collected Horan at about 700 feet.
