WCHRA at Bakersfield

The Season Begins with Records

On March 23-24 the West Coast Hot Rod Association returned to AAA Auto Club Famoso Raceway near Bakersfield, Calif. for the kick-off of the “Kings Oil Tools” 2013 season presented by CP CARRILLO. This is the seventh season for the association and will include three full weekend events featuring all the WCHRA classes, Pro Slammer Association and Super Eliminator. All events will be held at AAA Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif.

The WCHRA will also be featuring its three “Small Tire” Heads Up Classes -- True 10.5, Outlaw 8.5 and Limited 10.5 cars -- at Auto Club Famoso Raceway’s Super Chevy Event as well as the “Saturday Night Nitro” Event July 13.

The WCHRA has changed the class lineup a bit for 2013. Eligible WCHRA racers will compete for a Championship in True 10.5, Outlaw 8.5 and Limited 10.5. The top eight eligible point earners will battle in the Edelbrock Championship Shootout for the class championship and Edelbrock bonus money.

On the Index side of things, B, C, D and E/GAS will race for championships and the biggest change will be the addition of four brackets: Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle. All racers in these four brackets will have the opportunity to race for Summit Team Points and WCHRA Championship Points by simply paying the required team or association fees.

In an attempt to give the index and bracket racers more racing for their money, this year WCHRA has changed to a “race each day” format on the two-day weekend events. This format offers two qualifying runs Saturday followed by Eliminations; on Sunday there will be a morning qualifying run followed by Eliminations.
