Round 1

Damon Rivetti

We all know drag racing is full of highs and lows, and this day was no different. No. 1 Chang paired up with #8 Rivetti. Although Chang had over a second advantage in qualifying, you just never know what to expect in small tire racing. Rivetti got the advantage at the ‘Tree and jumped out to a huge lead when Chang spun the tires at the starting line and had to pedal. Rivetti made that holeshot payoff at the finish line with a 6.02 at 117, just holding off Chang’s 5.97 at 167 mph.

In the next pair it was to be Singletary versus Rydell, but Rydell broke a transmission and couldn’t get it repaired in time, so Singletary advanced with a 5.06 at 145 mph.

David Bowman

Bowman was having ignition-related issues all through qualifying and it continued in his meeting with Patrick who ran 5.70 at 128 mph to Bowman’s 9.05 at 52 mph.

The final pair was to be Holder and Lawrence, but Lawrence couldn’t make the call and Holder ran a round best 4.84 at 169.57 mph in the single run.
