Greg Anderson brought a new Camaro to Bristol and made it to the semifinal round where Enders-Stevens knocked him out of the competition with a 6.706/205.88 to Anderson’s 6.739/205.98.

Brogdon, the No. 8 qualifier for the second race in a row, started the day by taking out V. Gaines 6.730/205.57 to 6.757/205.94. He then had a tall order in the second round, where he faced No. 1 qualifier Mike Edwards, a winner of the last four Bristol races, but Brogdon was up to the task, putting down a 0.019-second reaction time to get a huge 0.040-second jump. Edwards later slowed with mechanical problems while Brogdon sailed to victory with a 6.724 at 206.01 mph.

Next up was No. 2 qualifier Jason Line, who went into tire shake, moving Brogdon to the final round against Erica Enders-Stevens. Brogdon got the Wally with a 6.745/205.38 run against Enders-Stevens’ 6.752/205.66.

Brogdon began the season having made massive changes to his team. He moved the operation into a new shop in Houston to be joined with a new in-house engine program. The team struggled with engines at the start of the season, suffering numerous parts failures.

Brogdon later made changes to his crew, bringing in Brian Self to serve as crew chief. Self and Brogdon raced together in Comp years ago, and the pairing has been solid.
