The PSB title chase went to Fredrik Fredlund after he won his opening round of eliminations, but teenager Elvira Karlsson grabbed all of the headlines thanks to a low qualifying 7.029, the event win over Fredlund and, in doing so, cracking the six second barrier for the first time in Europe with a 6.998/185.88 (to Fredlund’s 7.051/185.08) and taking the ET record to go with second place in the points. The Teisab/Veidec backed rider will be joined in the PSB ranks next season by her younger sister Elsa. Together the Karlssons will be a major threat in 2014.
Although not a contender in the Cup points (that went to Garry Bowe), Steve Venables took the Euro Finals trophy (for the second year in a row) over Ven Racing teammate Graham Balchin (for the second year in a row) in a 7.254/197.26 to a 7.318/197.08 match-up. The pair had also qualified in one (7.227/200.63) and two (7.292/202.43) spots and were the only members of the eighteen entries to run in the seven twenties and over 200mph during the course of the event.
