A slimmed-down Al-Anabi ‘gold’ driver, Khalid al-Balooshi, ran a respectable 3.75 and set Top Speed of the meet with a 328.70 top end charge.

Other notable Top Fueler laps came from Spencer Massey at 3.770/320.58, Bob Vandergriff at 3.817/322.42, and 2013 NHRA rookie of the year Brittany Force with a respectable 3.824/317.87.

Reigning NHRA Funny Car champ John Force ran an impressive 4.039-second run at 319.37 mph Friday in his Jimmy Prock-tuned Ford Mustang and 2009 World Champ Robert Hight posted a 4.039/315.56 effort in his Mike Neff-tuned Auto Club Ford Mustang.

Also making laps at the test session was Tommy Johnson Jr., who is returning to the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series in Funny Car, with a respectable 4.134-second pass. Johnson’s crew supposedly ran both last year’s chassis and a new car/chassis that they put together at the track during the test session.
