NHRA Pro Mods at Las Vegas

Smith cashes in and scores second straight title

A case could be easily made based upon his career accomplishments that “Tricky” Rickie Smith is among the best if not the best pro doorslammer driver in history. He has multiple world championships and national event wins in both the IHRA and NHRA Pro Stock and Pro Mod classes. He added to that impressive racing resume by securing his second straight NHRA Pro Mod World Championship in Las Vegas at the last NHRA Pro Mod race of the 2014 season.

Smith beat Rick Snavely in the second round to secure the title and then went on to win the race beating Don Walsh’s turbocharged Camaro at the NHRA Toyota Nationals. The Pro Mod series final event was presented by Aeromotive, Inc.

Smith drove his nitrous oxide and fuel injected IDG Camaro to a 5.912/242.63 effort to defeat No. 1 qualifier Walsh and his Camaro in the final round at The Strip at LVMS. It was Smith’s third win of the 2014 season and the seventh of his career.
