Nitro Harley

North Carolina native Jay Turner led the nitro Harley qualifying with a 6.298/224.25 pass. Floridian Joey Sternotti was a tenth slower with a 6.396/194.41 and Mike Pelrine was third with a 6.399/223.69. Bradenton  winner Mark Cox qualified fourth with a 6.402, followed by points leader Randal Andras, then Mike Scott, Larry Brancaccio and Alvin Kobernusz.

In the fuel Alt class Ron Maroney topped the qualifying sheet in the "Blind Faith" entry with a 6.307 at 220.37, followed closely by Bradenton race winner Don Blackshear in the "Bullet Bob" AA/FA with a 6.315 at 209.59. Brian Hope qualified third, followed by Kyle Hough and  Ron Hope.  

In the eighth and final spot went to Terry Haddock driving “Nasty” Dave Benjamin’s car. That team towed 48 straight hours from the shop in the Pacific Northwest to PBIR for this race.
