Frequent visitor to the UK shores, Walter Sprout pulled out a 7.061/213.33 to sit behind Gladstone at second spot on the ladder, but the ECS Performance rider wasn’t happy with any of his qualifying shots as little things kept him away from his first competition six. A 7.024/207 in the first round of eliminations accounted for Michael Bayes and suggested things were heading in the right direction, a notion that was confirmed by the 6.979/207 that did for Jason Angela in the quarters. A substantial wheelie messed up his final four round against Terence Angela, but the six-second ticket put a big smile on Sprout’s face.

Cooper Performance Pro Open

New for 2014, Pro Open is pretty much what it says with a real mix and match entry including Funnybikes and Outlaw Street no bar entries augmented by an influx of the non-qualifiers in the other Pro classes for eliminations. Low qualifier, at a PB of 6.715, Rob Giard looked to be heading to the final onboard his turboed Funnybike, but damaged his motor in the quarters and was only able to stage in the final four. On the lower side of the ladder, John Bullock on his slick attired no-bar ride progressed from the number two spot with a series of mid sevens to the winner’s circle defeating John Chant’s Pro Street entry in the final.
