Brian Jernigan, of Cypress, Texas, the number-six qualifier, then took out Mike Scott with a 6.27 elapsed time that was low number of the meet at the time, trailering Scott, who was close by but suffered complications at mid track, slowing to a 6.49 at 190 mph at the stripe.

In the third pair out, Jay Turner of Julian, NC, announced he was ready for anything with a 6.27/222 run that defeated Damian Cowden of Victoria, BC, who posted 6.49 at 217 mph.

Julian Seaman

In the final pair, Randal was slightly off pace with a 6.41 at 223 mph, but Seaman spun the tire and the bike faltered badly after that, slowing to a 10.52/152 run.

Seaman commented, “I got a little too aggressive with the tuneup on that one, spun the tire right away. Believe me, I learned from this one.”
