FIA Top Methanol Dragster

The small Top Methanol Dragster field (only four entries - a pair of Swedes and a pair of Maltese) boiled down to an all Mediterranean showdown between Monty Bugeja behind the wheel of Joe Carabott's Mr Whippy BAD and the Kalanc A/Fuel car of Chris Polidano tuned by Jerry Darien. Although the two had traded blows throughout side by side qualifying, it would be the blown car that would emerge victorious with mid five second clockings (including a low ET of 5.531 in qualifying and remaining in the same range through the two elimination rounds).

FIM-Europe Pro Stock Bike

Fredrik Fredlund has turned the Alastaro track into something of a personal fiefdom in recent years, the 2014 edition of the Nitro Nationals giving the Play Among Friends Suzuki providing a second win in three years (and Fredlund was due to contest the final in the 2012 rain out). Having got oh so close to a six last year, Fredlund had taken aim at the number for this season but was thwarted by the track not quite being there and the hot conditions being in the 1.11s range at 60 foot on his low qualifying 7.061 (the Suzuki being usually in the 1.05-1.06). With the six out of reach, Fredlund picked up the event win over Gert Jan Laseur (firmly in PB territory with the Eurol/Zodiac Buell) and is looking very good for a third FIM-Europe PSB title in a row.
