In the final Cox had a 6.476 at 208.81 to Brancaccio's 7.332 at 134.55. Cox also had wins over Lyle Newton and Mike Scott, turning laps of 6.556 and 6.476.  (Mike Garland photo)

Mark Cox, from Wilkesboro, N.C., claimed his second win of the season in another exciting final in Nitro Harley over Larry Brancaccio.

A number of the bike teams struggling all weekend just trying to get a decent pass and failed. Cox alone had the engine combination dialed in enough to put down consistent 6-second laps and take the win.

FUEL ALTERED

Troy Martin won for the very first time in IHRA’s nostalgia fuel altered class after switching over from the AA/FC class for this racing season. He bested the “old school” Kyle Hough in the fuel altered final.

While Martin was busy coasting to a 6.811 at 167.45 to take the win, behind him in typical nitro Altered action Hough in the “Nanook” spun the tires hard and got the car up on two wheels, crossed the center stripe and lightly tagged the wall handing the win by default to Martin.
