With over 315 pre-registered cars and around 12,000 spectators, we were all treated to show like I cannot remember.

Ninety three year old Ed Iskendarian, of Isky Cams fame, was on hand as the special guest of honor and had a very big smile on his face all weekend. His co-worker of many years and famous gasser pilot, Bones Bologh traveled with Ed from California to sign autographs and talk with all of their long term admiring fans. A number of famous gassers and comp dragsters, like the Famosa Speed Shop cars from  Bakersfield, California, made the long trip to burn some rubber on this famous Midwest track. Dee & Phil Morris of Gasser Wars magazine drove their rig with the fuel altered in the back,  all of the way from Snohomish, Washington to help sponsor the event, sell t-shirts, hats and subscriptions to fans and racers.

Perfect summer temperatures prevailed all weekend for a stunning display of the best automobile fun fest of 2014.

My hat is off to the staff of Byron Dragways for the cleanest bathrooms and pristine grounds. Trash barrels were everywhere and emptied every day. I even saw Ron Leek personally bend over to pick up a small piece of paper trash that was blown away from the numerous picnic tables. That was such a strong example of how to take care of the surroundings and to lead by example. Everyone likes a clean facility.

I cannot wait to see the 2015 version of the Melt Down Drags at Byron Dragways in Northern Illinois. USA.
