Standing Room Only crowd sees one new name among the winners

In front of its biggest crowd since becoming the Professional Drag Racers Association (PDRA), the freshman sanctioning body gave the Tulsa Raceway Park doorslammer fans what they came to see: Bad-fast, close races, and record-setting racecars competing on an eighth-mile track.

Among those setting track records during the Aug. 15-16 event was Jason Scruggs, who reset the ET and speed record for Pro Extreme to 3.57 and 214.79 mph. Todd Tutterow likewise reset the Pro Nitrous record to 3.853 at 191.95.


Top Sportsman driver Aaron Glaser, who made his first career 3-second pass at Richmond, VA, stepped it up at Tulsa with a new class elapsed time record of 3.981.

Pro Extreme points leader Bubba Stanton was the big winner at the event, taking his third PDRA Pro Extreme trophy of 2014. Jason Harris picked up his fifth Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous title. Ford driver John Pluchino won his second Extreme Pro Stock race of the season, Kevin Rivenbark his second-straight win in Pro Boost and veteran bike rider Ashley Owens scored his first PDRA win in Pro Extreme Motorcycle.

Sportsman class victories went to Dylan Stott with his second Magnafuel Top Sportsman win this year, local driver Cody Moore in STT Safety Equipment Top Dragster, and Jake Thurlwell and Amber Franklin in Huddleston Performance Pro Jr. Dragster and Top Jr. Dragster, respectively.
