MX PRO EXTREME

After talking with Top Fuel Harley Tony Ruggerio from Fresno, Calif., -- “I wanted to know the rules for this class. ‘Run what you brung,’ was the answer, may it be nitro, turbocharged, and/or nitrous. Try and run as quick as you can without hurting anything.” Tony built and set up the tune up for all four of the Nitro Harleys competing, including overall winner Greg Justice, Mike Borland (Florida), Darryl Hutchins, and his own ride. Dad Steve also still competes now and then at age 64.

Vince Testa’s turbo machine was the quickest qualifier in this field of twelve extremely fast bikes. Vince ran a super 6.867, 198.90 mph.

Drag racer Katie Sullivan took time off from her driving duties to help crew for Greg Justice.

Greg Justice with very competent help from Pro Stock Bike rider “California Katie” Sullivan (she did the entire clutch on Greg’s ride) laid down a nice easy 7.668, 160.90 mph to defeat fellow Harley rider Mike Borland (all the way from Palm Beach, Fla.) who broke right off the starting line, actually popping out a spark plug and injuring his left wrist. Wilton, California’s Mike Rissing not only had the best reaction time (.054) of the first round but ran a 7.206/183.00 over Daryl Hutchins’ Fuel Harley which only ran a sub-par 8.672/147.54. Adrian Lottle’s turbo 2015 Pro Mod ran 6.928 at 172.78 mph to eliminate Pro Stock bike rider Freddie Camerena with a 7.227/170.39 on his ’98 GTXR.

Sacramento’s Darryl Meadows got a free pass at 7.199/187.57 when OK City’s Kermit Lorrie broke with his ’15 Suzuki. Craig Brown’s very fast turbo ride ran a 7.302/174.68 to defeat Tony Ruggiero’s mount, which ran into some problems and shut off early at 9.294/115.05. Vince Testa rounded out the first round with a strong Low ET of the round pass of 6.903 at 198.90 mph when Steve Rice with his 2015 Moran Puma broke on the burnout .

Mark Rissling and his super quick Suzuki made a race of it with his battle with Craig Brown when he had the quickest reaction time of the day (.016) to a decent (.066) for Brown -- and talk about close, how about a 7.064 at 186.46 mph to a 7.166 at 180.84 mph ! The teamwork of Greg Justice and Katie Sullivan paid off as they defeated Vinnie Testa’s turbo bike in an upset at 7.321/180.84 to a very close 7.362/198.84. Oklahoma City’s Adrian Lottie’s powerful ride broke giving Darryl Meadows Low boy a single at 7.110/186.90 mph

Another super close race in the semi’s pitted Craig Brown and Darryl Meadows, with Meadows cutting a better light (.026) to a (.063) but Brown was not to be denied at a quicker 6.969/186.48 over a fine 7.120, 181.94.
