Ten year competitor Sean Belt had just replaced the cast iron Chevy truck block after blowing up another block the previous weekend in Tulsa. He blew some rods out the side of the block after posting a great 4.05 ET at 177 MPH in the very first round of competition in his “Metal Mafia” car.

Previous winner Anthony Whitfield ran in the “A” this year with his small block Chevy “Mighty Mouse”. Whitfield gave all of us a thrill ride in 2011 by going off the end of the track into the corn, with a GOPRO camera attached to the roll cage. This year was a great follow to his win in “B” class last year with a runner up in the faster “A” field. Congrats to “Cornfield” on the accomplishment.

Marc White returned to the next round as fill in exhibition only for another great 3.9287 at 184.96 MPH against last year’s “B” field winner, Anthony “Cornfield” Whitfield slower but solid win.

Whitfield (near lane) faced race winner Roger “Radar” Lechtenberg in the final on Sunday with a losing 4.5283 to the ultra-hot “Nitro Madness” ET of 3.9190 at 194.22 MPH.
