In order, Crampton beat Doug Kalitta (3.705/328.94 to 3.761/326.56), Brittany Force (red light), Brown (3.814/321.19 to 4.919/151.34)and Steve Torrence in the final. The money round was a thriller with Crampton pedaling the car to regain control when it hazed the tires mid-run turning in a 3.972/283.07 to Torrence’s 4.072/267.32.

"You know, I felt super confident going into the finals and with that comes success normally," Crampton said. "There was no second guessing; we just went out there and tried to get the win. No one’s going to give it to you, you gotta go out there and earn it. I'm pleased I was able to drive us to the win there."

ith the victory, Crampton jumped up two spots to third in the Mello Yello rankings.

Steve Torrence beat a trio of champions to get to the final round, but he fell short of earning his sixth NHRA tour victory. It was the third final round of the season for the Kilgore, Texas, native who moved from ninth to sixth in the Countdown points.

It is the second time Crampton has shut the door on Torrence in the final round of a major event the last two years.

After beating three-time NHRA champion Larry Dixon in round one (3.735/326.24 to 3.759/323.81) and 2012 Mello Yello champ Shawn Langdon in round two (3.735/326.95 to 3.783/327.82), Torrence dispatched five-time former IHRA champion Clay Millican (3.781/324.12 to 4.810/153.32) to reach the Top Fuel final for the 11th time in his career but for the first time at the Motorplex.
