The second session saw Blomberg break after the burnout and not record a time. Roach slowed to a 5.19 at 140.23 after getting sideways leaving the line. The other four competitors all improved on their first session times. Willet ran 4.66 at 144.91 to slot in at number 4. Benham got the Chevy down track at 4.71 at 141.33 along side Ortiz who jumped up to number one with a career best 4.20 at 161.00 as he lifted early in his Pontiac. Gulitti knocked a second off his first attempt running 4.42 at 162.75.
