BJ Bax took the Iowa Speed & Supply #1 GM Award back home to Missouri with him.

The temperatures and qualifying were both hot on Saturday. Bob Lister and his popular 1965 GTO were the #1 Qualifier followed closely by friend and fellow Pontiac Racer BJ Bax. Eliminations had classic matches between Fords, GM’s and Mopars.

After five hard fought rounds of racing, it came down to a final between Kevin Miller from Illinois and Missouri Racer Mike Volkart. Vokart’s bright yellow Chevelle had a great .037 light which was enough to force Miller’s Dodge to go .004 under his 11.75 Index handing the win to Volkart.

Mike Volkart and his wife enjoyed the Victory NSS Winner's Circle for the first time Saturday night.

After a good night’s sleep, the Victory racers awoke to all too familiar rain. After a short delay, the great CIR track crew had the track back into shape and racing began. Thirty-six NSS cars made the call and first round had a rematch from Saturday’s final. This time Volkart pushed the Tree too hard, turning on the Red Light and allowing Miller to move on.

Just like Saturday, there were five great rounds of racing leading up to a Mopar vs GM final. This time neither finalists were strangers to a Victory NSS final.

It was a battle of two past Series Champions: Russ Berens and Dan Beale. Beale and his hard launching Pontiac had the home track advantage. Berens and his thundering Hemi Plymouth were coming off a dream year last season with three victories and his second Series Crown. Both cars thundered down the track, with the Win Light coming on in Beale’s Lane to the delight of the local Fans.

Race #2 Winner Dan Beale credits car owner Dan Driscoll, Victory Performance Parts, Aeromotive Fuel Systems, and DRE Engine Diapers for his success.
