Finals

E.J. Hickl takes a look at the computer.

Current points leader Tim Ortiz and E.J. Hickl squared off in the final giving the fans another blower versus nitrous match up. Ortiz would maintain his first place position regardless of the outcome -- it was just a matter of by how many points. Having lane choice, Hickl picked the right lane and at the yellow the dreaded red bulb came up again and ended the run for Ortiz and his 2011 GXP ringing up a 9.13 at 52.90 while Hickl dropped the hammer and hauled the mail, ringing up a stout 4.08 at 179.71 for the win.

Hickl’s victory slotted him into fourth place in the standings and Ortiz will go into the final event of the season holding a 32-point lead over Bengt Blomberg. That final race will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at Ben Bruce Memorial Airpark Raceway in Evadale, Texas, and will determine the series champion for 2015.
