Prescott, Ariz., chassis builder Rob Stirling was at Eagle Field with his daughter Alicia with their cast iron Chevrolet on nitro. Alicia is a licensed TF driver but Dad got to make one burnout, which could have spelled a trouble as the Chevrolet power plant had growing pains being a brand new piece. After completing his burn out, it would not go in reverse first, then caught on fire on the starting line so he wisely shut off. Scary, absolutely!

Saturday also featured both Rich Welch Photos and Eves Tallchief, the starter elite. Both were at Eagle Field to “live drag race history” during the Fremont Drag Strip era. Welch, along with his late brother and photographer, Les, and Steve Reyes among others were the premier photographers at that famous strip. Eves Tallchief has probably started more drag races than even Buster Couch, the longtime starter at NHRA national events. Rich still has the eye with his now digital Nikon even though he has been color blind since birth.
