Dayton, Ohio, racer Pat Dakin made his first appearance of the season at Atlanta against Antron Brown in the first round. He dropped cylinders, but still ran his quickest pass of the weekend, 3.820/202.50, in the losing effort.

Dakin got the first-round win at Bristol with a 3.821/292.65 over Clay Millican’s 3.841/322.65. He repeated the win, again over Millican, at Norwalk with a 3.820/316.67 as Millican hazed the tires.

At Joliet Dakin was up in smoke at the hit against Tony Schumacher. At Indy Dakin had a starting line advantage, but Brittany Force’s 3.758/323.81 got the win over Dakin’s 3.795/321.58.

Dakin got a first-round win at Charlotte 2 with a great .023 light and a 3.811 at 219.90 over J.R. Todd’s up-in-smoke 4.667/173.85. He followed that with a second-round bye when Ferre did not show. Dakin’s streak ended in the semifinal when he had to click off early against Brown.

He had another first-round win at St. Louis, racking a 3.779/324.98 against a tire-hazing Steve Torrence, but was eliminated in the second by J.R. Todd’s 3.798/319.22 to Dakins’ 3.827/316.90.

Steve Faria

Steve Faria, from Tulare, CA, was the No. 16 qualifier at the Winternationals and ran 4.220/195.93 to bow out in the first round to Steve Torrence’s 3.762/326.08. Next on the tour at Sonoma, Faria was the unlucky No. 17 qualifier. He did not qualify for the field at the World Finals.
