Atlanta was the first outing for Kyle Wurtzel, from Warsaw, IN, and J.R. Todd’s 3.759/326.00 put Wurtzel’s 3.853/309.84 back in the pits. At Bristol, Wurtzel’s 3.917/300.46 couldn’t catch Doug Kalitta’s 3.783/329/34.

At Joliet Wurtzel made his quickest pass of the weekend with a 3.865/307.30, but Doug Kalitta’s was 3.805/325.37. At St. Louis Wurtzel had to click it off in his first-round match with J.R. Todd.

T.J. Zizzo

T.J. Zizzo, from Lincolnshire, IL, made the Joliet race his first appearance with the NHRA Mello Yello series in 2016. His 3.865/317.12 could not compete with J.R. Todd’s 3.789/323.66. At Sonoma Zizzo ran his career best with a 3.792 at 322.34, but Brittany Force was better with a 3.763/325.45.

At Seattle Zizzo ran a losing 3.815/282.95 against Antron Brown’s 3.702/324.28. At the U.S. Nationals Antron Brown’s 3.750/325.30 took out Zizzo’s 3.843/319.22 in the first round.
