Bracket B was won by the 555 cube big block Chev flaming dragster of Kaz Williams despite fouling out to final round opponent, Jenny Petrie in the first round. Second time around the little lady got the better of Joe Sorbello’s .175 light with a superior .035 that allowed a slower .071 over 7.491 to catch a sleepy .055 over 8.905. A round three 7.495/177.86 solo put her in the final. There she turned the tables on Petrie’s Chev 400 powered Fiat Topolino in an all girl final when a .039 light and .012 over 7.442 was too strong for a .108 over 8.588.

Mick Borg had handed the reins of his Modified Dragster over to his son Jason a few years ago, well that is except for two Nostalgia meets a year. His 202 cube six cylinder Holden powered FED qualified with a 9.308 that put him into the C bracket where he faced Ash Hayley’s ’57 Chev first up. Borg had the sedan covered off the line (.042 to .072) but at the other end he was too far his dial-in as a .080 over 10.95 from Hayley was too good for a second best (0.161) over 9.471 on a 9.31 base.

The sight of Brett Copping’s Z1 Kawasaki 900 bought back some memories of forty plus years ago, indeed his red and black version looked right at home on the drag strip. He made his way to the final of the Classic Bike bracket with three wins in a round robin format taking out Ed Harring in the third round Triumph Bonneville only to again face him in the final.  There he couldn’t take him out again and had to settle for runner up in the day.
