NMCA WEST at Fontana, Calif.

Something old, something new…

Greg Seth-Hunter (near lane) dominated the Pro Mod class. Seth-Hunter had Low E.T. at 4.057 and Top Speed for the class at 168.64 mph. Here he’s taking the final-round win over Mark Moffat.

Beautiful weather welcomed racers and race fans alike as the 2016 NMCA WEST VP Racing Fuels drag racing season began at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, California, April 1-3. During the off season, the NMCA West changed the class lineup a bit, so new racers were competing in addition to last year's champions who would be defending their top status.

In the Fastest Street Car Pro Modified category, the familiar Mustang of Greg Seth-Hunter set the pace with a low ET of 4.05 and a high mph of 168.64 in the new eighth-mile race distance. He would square off against Mack Moffat in his '93 Corvette in the final round, and while Moffat took a slight advantage off the tree, Seth-Hunter's 4.154/162.74 edged out Moffat's 4.390/157.71 effort.
