Richard has mad skills and has won on a variety of motorcycles from street bikes, to grudge bikes, Pro Street, Pro Mod, Pro Extreme; he's won races piloting every one of the aforementioned race bikes. Accordingly, it's not uncommon at a national event to see Richard on from three to five different drag bikes, in different classes, at the same race. Very few drag racers in the world can go from a no-bars street type bike to a Pro Mod at the same race.

Richard got serious with his motorcycle drag racing in 2003, when he started racing a 600 Super Sport bike with the AMA/PROSTAR sanction. A year later in 2004, he began doing some grudge series racing as well. Since that time frame, he’s more than won his fair share of motorcycle drag racing national events with multiple sanctions.

His uncle is a man Richard attributes much of his success to, but many big names have taught Richard well. Johnny "Air Time" Locklear has mentored Richard both on track and in engine building. Keith Dennis and Ryan Schnitz are two more racers Richard looks up to with great respect. He’s learned and applied the lessons they’ve taught him well.

In 2015, Richard won the MANCUP Pro Mod championship while driving for Fast Time Motorsports. His team set both ends of the National Record and took the #1 plate. They also won the championship with the NHRDO sanction in Pro Comp. His driving efforts also took a respectable third place in Pro Street with the IDBL series on Brad Mummert's "Bad Baby” Suzuki GS, a major crowd pleaser.
