Two pairs later Sidnei Frigo had one of the worst crashes Pro Mod crashes in recent memory and but wasn’t severely injured, suffering a broken left arm.

After the track was returned to racing condition and approximately a hour and a half after the session started, Von Smith made what would be the quickest and fastest supercharged lap of the event at 5.802/249.12. Ironically that lap bumped Frigo down to the fourth qualifying spot.

The last pair out featured Rickie Smith, who had just been bumped off the pole by the big speed of a turbo car, and Khalid alBalooshi. AlBalooshi broke on the burnout and Smith was on a single. The Pat Musi/EFI/nitrous-powered Camaro scorched the quarter mile to a RPM nitrous record 5.779/250.46.

After two rounds of qualifying Bill Glidden’s 5.955/241.71 held up as the “bump” number.
