Randy Van Hook

The NSS Class had three rounds of Qualifying to set the ladder for Eliminations. At the end of Qualifying, Illinois racer Randy Van Hook took the pole with a stellar 10.754 on his 10.75 Index. With the Ladder set, the Super Stocks lined up for Eliminations. As usual, the racing was fast and competitive for the Victory Cars. Stanley Rideout threw away a dead-on 10.50 on his 10.50 index pass with a red light start against series sophomore Dennis Spurgeon.

The wheel-standing Hemi of Don Bruemmer lost a double breakout race against past champion Dan Beale. Shaun Johnston had a great .025 reaction and ran 10.76 on his 10.75 Index to defeat the Queen of NSS, Rosie Kossuth. Matt Mothershed earned his first round win in Victory NSS, defeating Jeff Blickensderfer. Unfortunately, 2016 Victory Champion, Russ Berens, turned on the red bulb, letting local favorite Kenny Gresham move on to Round 2.

NMCA Champion Doug Duell introduced himself to the class with a .012 light, taking out past Victory Champion Tom Hoffman.
