Hagan defeated Bob Bode 3.914/326.24 to 4.132/306.12 in the first round and Tommy Johnson Jr. 3.952/325.53 to 3.977/320.05 in the second. In the third round against Capps, Hagan went up in smoke just after leaving the line.
Robert Hight had the most successful day for the John Force Racing team, making it to the semifinal round. He got past a redlighting Cruz Pedregon in the first round and running a 3.917 at 328.06 mph to defeat Alexis DeJoria’s 3.967/319.07 before falling to Jack Beckman. (Jeff Burk photo)
