The NHRA doesn’t count Top Fuel Harley as one of the professional classes, but if it runs nitro, we at DRO don’t think it belongs in the sportsman category and we’re including them in this report.
There were just 10 of these beasts at Pomona, running for eight spots in the field.
It wasn’t a surprise that Jay Turner got the win; he kicked butt in the nitro Harley ranks most of last season. At the Winternationals Turner set Low ET of 6.274 seconds and Top Speed of 225.71 mph.
His first-round win was a 6.340/213.30 over Andy Beauchemin’s 6.485/186.90. In the semifinal Turner ran 6.274/225.71 to knock out the 6.503/181.45 from Robert Malloy.
House defeated Tii Tharpe (6.554/217.46 to 6.841/195.17) in the first round and then Tracy Kile (6.404/218.27 to 6.778/179.16) to get to the final.
The Top Fuel Harleys race next at Wild Horse Pass Raceway Park near Phoenix on Feb. 24.26.
