THE BIG QUESTION

Can you get the converter "right" the first time? The answer is, "Maybe." A lot of the racers I talked to tried five or six different setups before they found the "one" that really fit their combination.

I think that so many racers have big block Chevy motors and have sent so much info to the builders that it is easier for them to build a "right" converter for those racers the first time . But who said I liked "easy" anyway?

The great thing about both these companies is their commitment to make sure the converter is "right" for your application. They want them to work as much as the customer does. I can't tell you how much I appreciate Mike and Jim's input and support of "Project 4-Link." Now that we are a little more accustomed to the dragster, our testing will be a lot more intense. Both converters will be sent in to be loosened up. The Mike's Ultimate Glide has performed perfectly and is ready for next year as well.

WHAT'S NEXT? ALCOHOL

The next article will be about the installation of a Barry Grant Fuel System belt drive fuel pump for our conversion to alcohol fuel. Naturally, it will also have the new Alcohol King Demon carb feeding alky the Indy 540 inch wedge. I will also give you the results from project four-links ,first season, the ups and the downs of my first season in a dragster and I will fill you in on "what it costs" to build a similar dragster.

The tech articles should start coming every three weeks or so during the winter months. Thanks for checking in on "Project 4-Link." I have thanked the many marketing partners who joined us on our dragster several times but it is time I thanked the many friends and family members who pitched in all year.

My wife, Barb, has stood beside me on this project since the start, my boys who have always been there to help out, Mark Kluck who helped guide me through the "learning curve" to change my driving techniques, Bruce Kaul has offered advice and helped me learn to "drive the stripe" more aggressively. Mike Eggleston always reminds me to remember this is "for fun." Thanks Mike and Tami; sometimes I forget what the hell I built this thing for. Jeff Burk, our DRO Editor / Internet magazine guru has continued to give me space in Drag Racing Online to share my experiences with the readers. Thanks Jeff and Kay -- by the way the tech features will start to roll again now that snow is about to start falling out in the great state of Iowa.

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday and I hope everyone and their families have a safe holiday.
