If I had dreamed of one race I would like to win this year, it was the IHRA race at what will again be my home track, Cedar Falls Raceway. Well, I realized that dream and it will be a race I will never forget. My family was there, my friends were there and the track I had worked at for so many years "was back!" Five rounds never seemed to go by faster. The car was "perfect" all day. It never varied more than .003 in 60' and the reaction times were pretty good.

I do think this showed me something I had been missing the last couple years. FUN was back in my racing program. Sure winning is nice but I heard Scotty Richardson say one day that "You have to savor every victory because you never know if everything will go your way again." Well let me tell you, I will never forget the feeling from that victory! I owe the quick success of this program to the many supporters of "Project 4-Link" and my friends that kept telling me I was due for a day like that. Thanks one and all.

Special thanks to my wife, Barb.

I know I took up a lot of space telling you about my race but it is an important part of "Project 4-Link". The building, the organizing the hours spent on details can pay off for any racer who thinks positive and learns from each run. It isn't only winning that matters anymore to me it is the "fun factor". It has been missing from my race program for way too long and I am glad it is back.

Now for some details on throttle stops for those of you considering some 8.90-9.90-10.90 racing. Since I live so close to Number One Stops I stopped by Gary Heuer's shop and took some pictures of his World Championship winning parts. He does not have a shop full of employees building them and doing the UPS and taking calls. He does ALL the machine work, assembling, packaging and question answering. His wife, Jean, handles the paperwork and computer stuff. Gary has two CNC vertical mills, all sorts of tooling and an energy level that never quits.

The inside of Number One Stop Products is large enough and well-equipped enough to make more throttle stops than anyone else. The CNC Bridgeports are visible in this photo.
