MUSI GETS 6TH CONSECUTIVE NMCA WIN

Defending Pro Street champion Pat Musi overcame a broken motor in qualifying to win his sixth consecutive event of the season as the National Muscle Car Association made their first-ever stop at historic Quaker City Dragway in Salem, Ohio. The team fixed a broken rocker arm and went on to win the event and extend their series points lead. Teammate Marc Dantoni overcame the effects of a crash the previous weekend to also win and extend his Pro Outlaw Street points lead.

Wins by Dale Pittman (Nostalgia Pro Street), Charlie Booze, Jr. (Pro Nostalgia), Jim Huber (Super Modified), Bruce Lagory (Real Street), and Dan Forcucci (Traction Advantage) helped each of these racers in their march towards the 2002 championships.

While Dave Lauer has never been the quickest or fastest entry in EZ Street competition, wheels-up launches from this heavyweight Olds has won him a lot of fans.

While the season championship race has been all but wrapped up in both of these eliminators, several seesaw battles for the season title continued in other categories. Bob Curran, who was three points out of first place in EZ Street prior to Salem, overcame a huge hurdle when Phil Hines was upset in the first round. Curran won the event and left with a 16-point lead over Hines.

Doug Smith from Brookville, Indiana grabbed his firt career victory in Super Street when he took his 1995 Olds Achieva to the upset win over points leader Elias Dellatorre with a holeshot.
