Hawkeye Drag Racing, Then & Now…

Cedar Falls, Iowa: The absolute star of Iowa drag racing is Vern Moats!  In 1966, Vern won a match race at Des Moines Dragway, driving his ‘Toxic’ Anglia gasser against Curt Wasson’s supercharged Corvette. In 2010, Vern is still active in NHRA Alcohol Funny car competition, having certainly ‘stood the test of time’! (Photo by Iowa Al Booton)

CEDAR FALLS RACEWAY aka NEITA RACEWAY:

Cedar Falls, Iowa, 1965: The North East Iowa Timing Association Raceway opened with a new ¼ mile facility between Waterloo & Cedar Falls. This track has survived, now known as Cedar Falls Raceway.
