Tri State Dragway 1966: Sam Bogner brought out this Plymouth coupe powered by a modest 283 Chevy V/8 and sponsored by Daniels Standard Station in Kahoka.

Kahoka, Mo., 2015: Sam and Judy Bogner in their beautiful  restored Chevy roadster at some type of Kahoka function.  Sam built and drove the altered shown above at Tri State Dragway, called ‘Mother’s worry’ back in ’66-67. Bogener’s yellow roadster is a nice car!

A final comment should be made about our response from last month’s ‘Gone but not forgotten’ column. Several folks at the PHRR remembered Casa Grande Drag Races held in the ‘50s. Three readers from the Quincy, Illinois area said they had ‘heard rumors’ about the 1/4mile dirt track, but never completely knew if it existed.

At the Route 88 Dragway, the former owner checked in. Jim Wadsworth who now lives in Rancho Cordova, Ca. near Sacramento, stated that he did indeed own the track which only ran a short period of time in 1960. Today, Jim takes high class nature photos along California’s American River wilderness. No word yet on NEMO, but we’re hoping.

And to the reader who wondered if we forgot Whitehall, Ill.; no we didn’t. We want to do a future column on the track and it’s three versions. Hopefully we can obtain Mike Coker’s assistance with this, stay tuned.

Until next time, Be On Time!
