Hamner executes a ‘burn-out’ at Lee County in one of his ’67 Camaros. It looks like an early spring or late fall event as the leaves are gone from the trees. As a promoter we did stretch the time frame as far as possible due to the limited number of week-ends available. Dewayne’s car brings back memories of an early ‘70s Pro Stock car.

Dewayne became a regular competitor at Lee County during the ‘70s, driving two separate ’67 Camaros. He told us that he was not as consistent as he wanted to be with a four speed transmission but could repeat the dial-in number once a power-glide was installed. He credits Dave Schutte, a chassis builder from Quincy, Ill., with narrowing the rear-end and installing a ladder bar traction package.
