While we traveled down to Bartonville in an attempt to locate Greater Peoria Dragway aka Boondocks Dragway, we stopped by a longtime friend of Jim’s, Tom Evans. Tom raced ‘back in the day’ but is now known as one of the top Classic Car Collectors in the land. He just finished a 1932 Ford pickup, which he dedicated to his father, a former Airman on a B-29 over Japan during WWII.

We have known Mr. Naramore a long time. He has always been a ‘class act’ while staying close to his roots in Peoria, Ill. Very seldom do we find other racers who are not aware of Jim and many know him well. All have only good things to say about one of the few individuals in drag racing who has raced in nearly every form of the sport: Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, and Sportsman.

If you are near Peoria be sure to stop in and say hello at the new Jim’s Racing across from Grainger’s on Jefferson Ave. or call them at 309-214-1950.

Until Next Time, Be On Time.

Pinned to the wall in Jim’s new office was this 11x17 poster from days gone bye at Bill Thomas Race Cars. The Nickey/ Bill Thomas connection was popular during the late ‘60s in California and Chicago. The poster was used here because it was advertising that I created while managing the Public Relations Dept. at B/T Race Cars!
