This is the Aeromotive
electric fuel pump mounted along the right
rear frame rail. Plumbed with a number
#10 inlet and outlet as well as a #8 bypass.
The small hose goes to a pressure gauge
we mounted under the license plate so
we could monitor bypass pressure without
crawling under the car. We have decided
to go with Aeroquip Socketless reinforced
250 psi hose and fittings to save us money
over braided stainless hose without an
loss of performance or longevity. The
#10 main fuel line is larger than it has
to be for gasoline but we will be running
alcohol by mid-summer. More details on
the complete fuel system and Demon Carburetors
in the next installment.

I just delivered all the J.W. Performance Transmissions
parts to Steve Oldani to build the Back-2-Basics
powerglide. Steve will give you lots of inside
tips and technical ideas on building a reliable
power glide. Don't miss his article in a few
weeks.
The engine is in the machine shop and Jeff
Burk will be doing a story on the Ohio Crankshaft
383-inch small block Chevy we are going to race
with this year. I am going to

very busy racing this month so the Vega has
to sit for a while.
We will have the Drag Racing Online "Project
4-Link" at Cordova, IL for the IHRA Hooters
Nationals during the ACDelco U.S. Open of Drag
Racing May 8-11 and then at Tri-State Raceway
in Earlville, IA Sunday May 11th for the NHRA
National Open. The next weekend we will be at
Eddyville, IA for the IHRA Pro-Am event then
the following weekend we will be running at
the NHRA O'Reilly Nationals in Topeka, KS. The
last weekend of May is the American Bracket
Nationals at a brand new Iowa track in Pacific
Junction, for a couple $5000 races. Then we
actually have a weekend off. Hopefully, it will
be to install the engine and trans in the Vega
"Back-2-Basics" hot rod car.
Should be an interesting month. Hope your racing
goes well and don't forget to always go BACK-2-BASICS
whenever you can.
