This is Demon's latest "hot setup". Their 1095 alcohol carburetor bolted on and performed perfectly. #9728025DR, is a good choice if you are looking for an alcohol carburetor.

As most of you know almost nothing bolts on the first time due to different water pumps, engine plates, chassis widths, etc. Well, ours was no different. We had to actually raise the pump from where the bracket would have mounted it. We used the same bracket and had to drill it out and drill the motor plate to get it between the frame rails. About an hour later and a 2” longer belt from a local industrial supply store and the fuel system was ready.
I learned a lot about big block Chevys and most of you know I have only had big Mopars for years. Basically, it just takes patience and advice from friends. Everything went OK and when we took it to the track we instantly went 8.60s and two weeks before we were struggling to hit 8.90s. Since the engine repair and the BG Fuel System / Demon Carburetor upgrades the car returned to being pretty consistent EXCEPT for one thing. Now we had more power and we were back to yanking the front wheels out of the beams again. This time it took 60 pounds in the front end to keep the right tire on the ground. After a few frustrating weeks getting that sorted out Andy ended the season with a runner-up and we are fired up to get the car ready for the 2005 season.

Plans for 2005 are to replace the big block in the car with a small-block Chevy “kit engine” from a company to be named later. We want to do all the assembly and show you that it isn’t difficult to do and get a lot of horsepower and reliability building an engine in your garage. The transmission just needs to get checked out and we will work closely with a converter company to get the “right one” for our dragster. The entire car will get the once over, fresh paint, new tires and we should have a really good car for the 2005 season.

Stay tuned as we will be announcing the companies that will help us get “Back-2-Basics” into the winner’s circle in 2005. In closing I want to thank the companies that made our late-season success possible. Isky Cams, Barry Grant Fuel Systems, Demon Carburetors, RCI Safety equipment, Roeder Performance Machine, Flatout Gaskets, MSD and a lot of help from our friends at the track.
