for next season.

"We wanted to build a Pro Modified car that was different, unique and
that would appeal to the many new fans and manufacturers that support
the growing import drag racing community and give them a car they could
identify with," said 19-year-old driver Cody McManama.
The team chose the Toyota Celica because of its stylish aerodynamic
body. They will also utilize a 700+ cubic inch engine using fuel injection
and nitrous oxide injection instead of carburetion and will also have
a flat hood without the normal "Pro Stock" hood scoop seen on a majority
of Pro Modifieds.
The team will have a Pat Musi-built EFI engine in their '57 Chevy starting
at this year's NHRA U.S. Nationals. The team will finish this season
with the '57 Chevy they are currently running and keep that car as a
backup for the 2003 season. They may run the '57 at selected events
next season as sponsors request.
"We will have the new car and engine combination ready for the 2003
season and will run the NHRA Pro Mod series exclusively," said team
owner Jim McManama.
"We want to get our new engine program started while the new car is
being built so that we will have a proven combination to start the 2003
season with," added his son, Cody.
The team is currently competing at the NHRA Sears Craftsman Nationals
at Gateway International Raceway near St. Louis, MO. Upon completion
of the race they will immediately start testing the new engine combination
prior to going the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis Aug. 28-Sept 2. (car
