THOSE WHO FORGET HISTORY...

I like your IHRA comment about the current staff's lack of history regarding past 1/8-mile national events. Don't forget the potential 23rd NHRA national event track was once an 1/8-mile IHRA national event facility with it hosting the 1974 IHRA Southern Nationals. I think Dale Funk won the Top Fuel title, beating Pat Dakin.

QUICKER RESPOSE NEEDED

Quint’s Pro Outlaw car wasn't the only one that burned at Memphis. David and Keith McCoy's NPS Trans AM went up in flames. No fire truck at the big end.

TOO HEAVY OR JUST HEAVY ENOUGH?

Could you do an article on "Toterhomes"? We have a freightliner with a 53-ft. trailer to haul our TAFC. Some states say anything over 26,000 lbs gross pull into weigh station. Others say all commercial rigs pull in. Our total package is 40,000 lbs. The toterhome weighs 18,000 lbs.

Thank you.

WE THINK IT X-PLODED

Interesting article about Divisional crowds. I would have like to have seen some comparison to the Sony Xplod Series. That series has a TV package equal to the Lucas Oil Series and if you have watched any of the shows there is no crowd in the stands. In addition many of the races are one sided with no car in the other lane or an aborted run due to breakage. The Lucas Series is far superior as far as the quality of the show.

THE VOICE OF DRAG RACING

Chris, welcome back! Great stuff on the MM! Announced my first March Meet in ‘63, the beginning of a 25-year history with the event. Can hardly wait to read what's next.

1/8th MILE MEANS FEWER FANS?

If NASCAR had races only on the short tracks, how many fans would they lose? Fans of cars that go fast, want to see just that...speed. If IHRA goes 1/8 mile and stays there, they will probably lose fans too. So think twice NHRA, before you decide.
