Dear Jay,

Hi, we have 69 opel gt thats tubbed and tubed. Its made to have 350
sbc, it also has a 6.34 gear in the rear and a 31 inch by 10.5 rear tire. The
car wheighs 1700lbs. with the motor. We want to use the 350 sbc. Whats your
view... think we should go 383 strkr or de-stroke it to 377 for high rpm? Oh, by the way, its a 8th mile car

Leonard,

With a car that light it won't take much engine to go fast! I am not a big fan of 377 cube SBC's due to the common method of building one. They typically use a 400 block and bearing spacers to allow the use of a 350 crank. I have built them before because I HAD to but I personally would go the route of a 383 or just build a 400 if you have one. There really is no substitute for cubic inches other than cubic dollars! The high rpm aspect really has more to do with other variables, mainly cylinder head selection.

Hope this helps.
