Big Daddy's in the Museum

Well actually they didn't have Mr. Garlits but they did have his Swamp Rat on display in a place of honor. They had an audio/visual display with the car where you could watch a short film and push a button to here a fuel car making a pass. A pair of DRO fans who happened to be at the Musuem at the same time as I kept hitting the play button on the audio of the Fuel car until a they got glared at by some of the staff that was working the door. Too much nitro, too much noise, some people just don't get it.

While photographing the Swamp Rat we noticed that there was a broom handle or perhaps part of a table leg stuck in the car on the opposite side of the throttle. Do any of you readers know what purpose this rather large stick serves?
