Dear Pro Mod Wad,

Greeting from up here in Canada, eh! I am emailing to get some information on "ideal" nozzle placement. We are switching from a single aluminum 4500 Dart intake with a single Pro Shot fogger and a Big Shot plate to a (EPD) sheet metal intake, two Dominators and 2 Pro Shot foggers. We have one set of soft plume nozzles and one set of regular Fogger2 nozzles with no plates.

Which parts go where? Why? What is the ideal placement for both sets of nozzles? And again, why?

Also, is it worth the expense and hassle to have the "third" stage installed (i.e. the bar that runs from the front of the manifold to the back)?

The answer to your question is as follows: The Fogger2 nozzles go high on the runner as they have a tight pattern for the first six to eight inches from the nozzle tip. By the time the spray gets down into the head chamber above the valve, it has become a fine-misted mixture. The soft plume should be on the bottom of the runner as the mixture leaves that nozzle in a soft misted mixture immediately.

As far as a third stage goes, if you choose to use bars, consider split bars that feed from both ends and are sealed in the middle. You will have much more control with this type bar set-up. A lot of the racers are using a fogger as a third stage now, so you can also consider that.
